Where in the world is (carmen sandiego) Fit to Flatter?

It’s been some time since I’ve done a class round-up here, and today is a good day to do so because I’ve revamped the class portion of my website. Now, you can find information about the three types of lectures/classes I can offer, along with a complete calendar of my events. There’s also a link to a page for yarn store organizers, with information on my teaching rates and travel policies.

The whole website needs further updating, really, but it will have to wait until later this summer I think. For the moment, I hope this page will make it easier for people to find out where I’ll be!

A couple of notices in case some of you didn’t catch this news elsewhere:

  • I’m teaching at the lovely Stitches with Style again on April 9 and 10. For those of you who don’t know, Newark DE is within decent driving distance of Philadelphia, Baltimore, and (2 hours?) Washington DC. The Sunday class is full, but we still have some spots open in the Saturday class (which runs from 4-7pm). This is the last time I’m going to be in that area for a little while, so if you can join us, we’d love to have you! Please contact the store to sign up.
  • I always adore teaching at WEBS, so I’m thrilled they’ve asked me to come back to run an additional section of Fit to Flatter this spring. It’s on April 25, which is a Monday, from 1 – 5pm. You can sign up here. Take a long weekend with us!
  • I’m also thrilled to be teaching at Fiber College this fall. What’s even better, they’ve asked me to run a full-day class, which will include all of the usual Fit to Flatter material and a custom sweater design for every student based on the principles we cover in class! Registration opens April 1, and I hope to see you near the ocean this fall.
  • Finally, I’m very excited to announce that I’ll be teaching at The New York Sheep and Wool Festival, affectionately known to many of us as Rhinebeck. I’m offering two classes on Saturday, only 3 hours each so that you can take a class and still have plenty of fun at the event! Registration opens in May, but I could hardly wait until then to share this news with you. 🙂

I hope to see you at a class some time soon! Teaching them is such a joy.

In other news, when I was completely without projects on the needles for a couple of days, I went absolutely nuts and started a new project. It’s nearly finished now, needing only edgings, but here’s an in-progress shot:

It’s a work-appropriate vest. Often I design something because I need a sweater to fit a niche in my wardrobe. This will be great this spring and summer when I want to wear a short-sleeved shirt outside of the office, but need something to throw on in the aggressive air-conditioning. Cardigans are nice, but sometimes you get a little tired of a twinset, you know?

A couple of folks wrote and asked about the scary eyeball peeking out of the cowl in my last post. The boys decided that my dress form had been headless for long enough, and added a dinosaur mask/hat they picked up on their last trip to visit their grandmothers in Maine. Jacob demonstrates what it looks like on a real human (his words):

And now, when I take the dino head off of my dress form, she does look a little bit… decapitated.

  1. The new vest looks perfect!

Now that I know what the head is, it looks perfect too.

  2. Pretty vest, sweet mask and AMAZING list of classes! You go, girl 🙂 Hope to see you soon when things at both homes align again.

  3. I’m loving the scary eyeball. I like the intersection between boys and knitting.

  4. I *LOVED* Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? when I was younger! I even had the computer game. It rocked. Awesome reference.
