Happenings

I’ve recently returned from a cross-country trip, which makes for fantastic knitting time. Hooray for long plane rides! So, I have a sneak peek to share with you all:

afterlight-tech-edit-4

It’s knit in Lorna’s Laces Solemate, which is such a phenomenal yarn I couldn’t possibly do it justice. It’s light, drapey, has a lovely sheen, a beautiful hand, and is CLIMATE CONTROLLED. I know! Beautiful, beautiful stuff. Look for this to arrive within the next couple of weeks; we’re just hoping for some slightly warmer temperatures to take lovely photos. I must say this about each and every sweater… …but it’s my favorite of all I’ve knitted. Can’t wait to share the full story with you.

My plane flights were so long, in fact, that I’ve already made great progress on the next sweater. This one is knit out of Spirit Trail Fiberworks Birte, which is lovely and luscious in a whole different way. Where the fingering-weight Solemate is light as a feather, Birte is scrumptiously soft and soothing, like a mug of tea and a warm, slightly gooey cookie on a cold snowy day.

(Don’t you love how Jacob wants to sneak into the picture?) Here’s a peek at the stitch pattern of the sweater:

The color shown is Graphite, which is truer in this second picture and a beautiful charcoal. I’m looking for something to make the super-cold, bitter last days of winter seem a little less gloomy. Something that makes you want to run outside and celebrate the cool, crisp air before we’re stuck in shorts and flip-flops for months.

We’re all gearing up for the book and a few other exciting things this spring, and will hopefully have a shiny new section of the website to share in a couple of weeks! But until then… …what are you knitting?

  1. I, too, am knitting w/Lorna’s Laces Solemate
It’s the color BowTie. A baby Sweater for a boy.
Hope to have a pair of baby sox, also.

    Hugs

  2. Ms. Herzog, you are such a tease! I adore the mixing of cables and lace, and I will certainly buy this new pattern. I am working on Selvedge in Classic Elite Blackthorn (a wonderful bulky weight), and then I’m going to start February Sweater–on account of February!

  3. Oooh, a Birte sweater! She does love texture, doesn’t she? (Colorwork, too, in my experience.) Can’t wait to see more – and how this can be made to flatter lots of different figures!
I’m almost finished with a very textural Birte cowl in Lamb’s Ear, just in time for the cold weather.

  4. Very excited for this design, might it be a first sweater for me???
