Gifts and Thankfulness

Hello, lovely knitters – nice to see you again!

I won’t lie, November has been a really rough month, for a big and diverse set of reasons. I have wanted to re-emerge from my social media absence with a warm and happy set of things to share, and this weekend seemed like a great time to do so. So, f you’ll forgive me a little bit of a bullet-list post, I have some fun to share with you on this gray, gray Friday:

Out and About

I’ve shown up in a few places online recently, and you might find them interesting:

Gift Knitting

I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about the holiday season is the fact that it’s culturally acceptable to shower the world with gifts. This year in particular, I’m ready to spread the love and nurturing of my knitting with those around me. If you’re looking forward to making something for your own knitworthy loved ones this holiday season, consider joining me in my yearly gift sweater knit-a-long?

You can chat with other KALers here on Ravelry, but the rules are pretty simple: Knit a sweater (one of my designs, or something you come up with on CustomFit) for another person, and complete it by the end of the KAL on 31 December.

Share the FO picture in the thread above, and you’ll be entered for the prize – 2 months of maker-plus subscription to CustomFit and a 30-minute online consultation with me on all of your sweater questions. Use the hashtag “giftsweaterkal” and/or “makewearlove” to let us see your progress, if you’re so inclined.

My own knitting

While I’ve been gone, I’ve been knitting (naturally) – most especially, playing around with cables and texture. Here’s something that will be coming soon to a CustomFit near you:

And finally, an experiment that I need to rethink a little bit, out of Shibui Staccato and Pebble held together:

I love the way the cables turned out, but the concept I had for the ribbing isn’t turning out to be very functional. I suspect there’s some knitting surgery in my future. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

And that’s the news for this Friday! Stay tuned next week for some more sweater fun, and until then, happy knitting. I don’t say, enough, what it means to me that you’re all here, reading and letting me into your knitting lives. It means a lot, and I’m so grateful for all of you. So:

Thanks for knitting with me, and happy holidays to you.
