Pattern Notes:

These owlish socks give your feet a touch of whimsy and your hands a sock simple enough (for the most part) to take along to your favorite… well, hootenanny.

The sock cuffs are adorned with a ring of cute-angry owls, after which the sock continues in plain stockinette until the toe, where a ring of smaller cute-angry owls hide beneath your shoe. Or peek out of sandals in style. Detailed charts are included for both colorwork motifs. Naturally, avian socks need an Eye of Partridge heel.

I designed these socks for Exercise Before Knitting’s sock revival contest. The stockinette sections really fly, and I went from owl chart to finished socks in about 2 weeks. So there you have it. From the twisted rib top to the contrasting-colored bottom, Hootenanny is a quick knit sure to bring a smile to the wearer’s face. I hope you enjoy it!
