Update as of April 27, 2:30pm Eastern: At this point, wayfarer registration is closed. If you wish to join us as a student, there are still spots available! If you’d only like to join us if you can be a wayfarer, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and let me know you’d like to be put on a wait list. Thanks!
Knitters make magic at the make. wear. love. retreats.
These intimate weekends in gorgeous locales steep you in sweater inspiration. We laugh, we eat great food, we knit great yarn, and you’ll learn from amazing instructors who help you think about your making in a new way. There are no strangers – just new friends. By the end of the weekend, you’ll be energized. Inspired. Ready to tackle anything.
The dates for this fall’s retreat are September 14-17, 2017.

My make. wear. love. retreats definitely take on the character of their locations. So the fall retreats on the coast of Maine are casual, friendly, and utterly delicious. We spend the weekend smiling – and how could we not, when our views look like this?
2017 will be the 5th fall make. wear. love. retreat (can you believe it?!), and we’re returning once more to the beautiful Sebasco Harbor Resort.
Sebasco is one of the few remaining family-owned resorts in Maine, and it gives us stunning vistas, tons of great places to curl up with a few friends and knit, and lots of lodging options – all in a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere. We’ve had such a wonderful time there for the last four years, and they’re so excited to have us back again. (They’ve fallen in love with The Knitters, who can blame them!?)
The dates for this fall’s retreat are September 14-17. I’ll be joined by another ever-amazing group of teachers: Norah Gaughan, Laura Nelkin, Carson Demers, Kate Atherley, Patty Lyons, and Kim McBrien Evans:
Together, we’ll form your sweater guides for the weekend. We’ll knit, we’ll learn, we’ll munch, and we’ll ooh and ahh over our surroundings (both the landscape and the knitwear!).
Here are the key details in brief: Based on feedback both from last year’s fall retreat, and this spring’s west retreat, I’m continuing to let the retreat format evolve. There are still two attendance options, wayfarer and student, but the mix of formal and a la carte education is changing to make those two options look different than at last fall’s retreat:
- Formal classes are now being held in the morning only, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; wayfarers will have shorter, less-formal sessions with different instructors during these times.
- Afternoons have shorter mini lectures, demos, and round-tables, each one focused on a specific topic. Participate in all, some, or none of them – your choice regardless of your attendance option.
- We’ll have group events every evening, and to end the event on Sunday afternoon. They’ll include more time with your instructors, a fashion show, and an extended marketplace session.
You can find a schedule, and all of the details, in the brochure. This more flexible format worked really well this spring, and will allow all attendees to get their desired mix of education and relaxation in this beautiful, beautiful place. Of course, as at all past retreats, this year’s make. wear. love. fall retreat will be full of the same inspiration, design, and craft you’ve come to love (or heard so much about).
One more change to student attendance: There are now four “formal” class instructors, and three class spots. So, students will get a morning class with three out of the four instructors. Each instructor is offering a single class this time around, and when you register you’ll be asked to rank them in order of preference.
Registration is now open
Please click here to register. You’ll be asked which attendance option you prefer, and if you’re a student, to rank your teachers, along with other basic information.
The cost of the fall 2017 retreat is $995 for students, and $845 for wayfarers. Attendees are responsible for arranging their own lodging with Sebasco due to the breadth of options. (You get a room information sheet, and instructions for signing up, with your acceptance. But, just for information sake, rates for a single room range from around $110-$300 per night, depending on how fancy you’d like to get.)
I confirm your attendance via email within a week or so of registration opening on April 26. A non-refundable $250 deposit is due at that time; your remaining balance will be due June 30.
I look forward to the make. wear. love. retreats all year long. I can’t wait for you to join us.
